Hydrogen Sulphide – H2S course

The main purpose of the hydrogen sulphide (H2S) training in Safety Scope is to create awareness on H2S hazards and give delegates knowledge that will enable them respond appropriately during H2S emergencies.  At the end of the training, delegates should be able to explain and demonstrate:

  • The common names of Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) and where it is ordinarily found.
  • The physical properties and characteristics of Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S),
  • The acceptable occupational/workplace exposure limits (OEL/WEL) of Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S),
  • Measurement and the OEL/WEL of Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S),
  • The physiological effects of exposure to Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S),
  • How Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) is detected and the use of onsite & personal detection equipment,
  • Actions to be taken in the event of a Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) alarm,
  • The types of respiratory equipment for use in a Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) environment,
  • The role of response teams in a Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) emergency and their use of SCBA.

H2S Training course

  •  How to check and operate Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) personal detection equipment.
  •  How to respond to a Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) alarm
  •   How to check and operate EBA fitted with a mask
  •  How to check and operate EBA fitted with a hood
  •  How to don and undon a SCBA an EBA
  • Emergency response procedures, corrective actions, and shutdown procedures which may be necessary in the event of a H2S emergency.
